🧦 Sewing in Slippers update (hello, cardinals!)

🌿News from Sue

Hi Reader,

This week has been full of surprises—in the best way.

At my local quilt guild show in Upton last weekend, my Magic Carpet Ride quilt was awarded a purple ribbon… my first ever pretty purple ribbon! And what made it even more special? The ribbon matched the Secret Garden Island Batik fabric line perfectly. You know I notice things like that 😊

The funny story is that nobody knows that this was probably the easiest to make quilt in the show that ended up with a ribbon! While the quilt looks really complex, almost like a stained glass window, it is so simple to make, but it really fools the eye!

I’ll share more about that quilt below along with a special one-time workshop where you can make a beautiful table runner with me—no membership required.

I’m also heading to Texas this week to spend time with my mom and family. Even while I’m away, we’ll still be sewing together for our Quilt-Alongs, which is something I never take for granted. If you are making True Colors of Springtime with me, or have just started Gradations, I'll be there for you on our Quilt-Along Zoom sessions!

There’s a new Sewing in Slippers episode (those cardinals are just too cute), a short break in live shows while I travel, and a National Quilting Day sale you won’t want to miss.

Be sure to scroll and see what’s waiting for you this week.

Happy quilting,

🌿Sewing in Slippers with Sue

🧦 Watch Sewing in Slippers with Sue
Every Tuesday Morning at 11AM on the Sue Pelland Design's Facebook Page

Please note there will be no Sewing in Slippers episodes on May 26 or June 2 while I’m away in Italy.

Last week on Sewing in Slippers with Sue I demonstratied how to free-motion embroider names for tmy stocking project. We used my standard sewing machine, not a fancy embroidery macihne!

This week, I'll be blanket stitching around the applique...and this will be agood one, becaue the points on the holly leaves are really pointy! So I'll show you some tricks to get nice blanket stitches, even though the points are so curvy

Then there are those pesky 1" circles to stitch. Let's tackle those too! See you Tuesday, May 19 at 11am on the Sue Pelland Designs Facebook page.
